There are some things even a new pair of shoes can't fix

As I play back in my head. Over thinking. Or simply just thinking. I think a lot about situations I find myself in. I have countless sleepless nights, literally, like insomnia. I'm writing this at 4am in the morning smoking a cigarette in the dark. Not even a book can put me to sleep. (Maybe I should try that warm milk I keep hearing about).

I think about a lot of things. My family. My safety. My ex. My future but mostly my friendships. Relationships in general - How it builds and how it withers - It takes a lot to maintain. Same as a romantic relationship it's a gave and take. It's about loyalty and appreciation. It's laughter and good times but also the arguments and disagreements.

I hold my friendships quite dear to me. It's close to my heart. Possibly the most important thing in my life. You see, I grew up without much family around me. My parents are from another province and so most of my family are over there and we are here so the friends I made i considered my family.

For the most part I think it's my fault. It always is. My ex was weary of the fact that I invested so much of my time in friendships where he didn't view it as important as I did. Now I see how it is wise that way. People are fickle, myself included. When you find a good person you trust, you latch on a bit too much in some cases. I think I do that.

Now I think. All the time I just think about things. Everything. Who I am. Who I should be. Who I want to be. If my friends approve. Will it rock the boat too much if I say this or do that. I'm scared I guess. Making friends is not always the easiest thing in the world so one would be scared to lose those you already have and rather just ride it out.

I read somewhere that a person's friends changes every seven years. I wonder if we've come to that point. I should be a stronger person. A confident person to stand on my own two feet you know and not depend on other people so much. It's seems to be my downfall and what makes my friendships so tender.

It takes a lot for one to really sit down and critically analyse who they are as a person. This is a difficult task for me. But still I'm thinking. Praying for an answer that I can only get by making my own decisions and standing behind them.

You see. There are many things a new pair of shoes can fix. But friendships aren't one of them.

Shoe Size Conversion - Find out the closest match to your size here!

These conversions should only be used as guidance. It was compiled as carefully as possible and contains many corrections from experience. Still there can be slight differences; e g. both the French and the Spanish sizes are slightly different than the European size shown below. Also as a general rule for very high heels, order a half size up.

5 Must-Have for 2013

I stumbled upon another blog article about the Five Fashion Must-Have for 2013 and it was only by chance that I came across it. Tracy Higgs, the author, wrote a good piece and I thought I’d share it with you instead of writing my own piece about it because stealing is strongly frowned upon in the blogosphere. As written in a tweet I read earlier today, “Whoever posts it first wins! Just send your readers to that blog”, which is what I have taken up to do.

However, I am giving a brief overview of the article of the 5 Must-Haves for 2013. It’s already May so if you don’t have these by now you should get right on it.

12 "Good-to-Have" Heel Collection

I have a stiletto heel in almost every colour - believe me – style, shape and even height. When I see something I like I just have to have it. I’m a size 4 (though I’ve been fitting into size 3’s quite recently, for some reason my foot shrank) and so it’s difficult most of the time to find a shoe in that size because there are only three size 4’s in each style of shoe delivered to a retail store, if there’s more you’re lucky so you have to grab it if you really want the shoe. I've read quite a few blogs on the "must-have" shoes every girl needs to have, so I've done my own rendition on this topic. I’ve picked a couple of my favourites and ‘good-to-have’ shoes from my heel collection, to show off really ;) – Every girl likes to brag about their shoes. They’re our pride and joys and I get very excited when I can brag about them. So here we go...

1. Black stiletto – First and foremost this should be your first heel ever because you know you can wear it with anything and will get a good wear out of it.

2.  The Animal in you – Now I believe every girl should have at least one animal print shoe whether it be a flat or heel or even a plain shoe with some animal print on it. Come to the wild side...

3. The ankle boot – This is probably one of the sexiest heel you can have. It just makes anything you wear with it look so much more stylish and edgy.

4. My Rihanna’s – I absolutely love these shoes. I call them My Rihanna’s because she’s one of my favourite singers and this pair of shoe just makes me feel like her.

5. Shock 'em with Red – Every girl needs a red stiletto! This is to make that stand as a woman. It’s Sexy, Fearless and exudes your Femininity.

6. The Bridesmaid – For those of you who were privileged enough to be a bridesmaid in your life this is an honour. Some dresses and shoes worn are never really of your taste but you do it anyway because it’s what the bride wants. I was lucky enough that the bride was my oldest and only sister and her taste isn’t that bad. Everyone (truly) complimented me on my fabulous heel.

7. The Sophisticated Women – So you “shoe’d” have that one pair (or 2 or 3) that’s sweet and ladylike. This is simply for that one occasion either your matricball or graduation where you have to be formal.

8. Wear a Wedge – Now I don’t own many wedges, about 5 pairs, but as soon as I saw these I fell inlove. Firstly they’re round-toe which is my favourite style in heels and the yellow stripe at the bottom just shouted “buy me”. It was a good decision on my part.

9. Booties – This pair could fall into the ankle boot category but they’re a bit different. I love them because they scream “I’m going to be sexy today and I don’t care” AND they’re great for the winter time.

10. Denim goes with Everything – Similar to one’s black stiletto heel that can be worn with everything but sometimes black is just too dark. Think about summer and you’re wearing a summery, floral dress with either sandals or flat pumps. You plan to go out later for a sun-downer but don’t want to change you’re dress and the black heels are just to clubbish. A pair of denim heels are perfect. It still keeps the summer feel but a heel takes your look from day to night.

11. Knock off to Rock on – OK, first of all, when I bought these (with a voucher I’d won in a competition FYI) I did not know they were a knock off of an exact look-a-like pair at Steve Madden. I paid R160 for these and the Steve Madden pair was R1000 – I clearly came out with a bargain. I don’t think there’s harm in a knock off though this is my only pair.

12. I CRIED FOR THESE - And Lastly... The pair of shoes I almost cried for and called all around Cape Town for my size...My Candy Striped heels. This pair of shoes even my little niece loves and whenever she’s over she puts them on and struts her stuff.

Hope you like them as much as I do. I'd also like to know about your heel collection so holla at yo gurrl.

Hi my name is Jade and I'm addicted to shoes

So the first step is admitting you have a problem...well that was easy enough. I've never hidden that fact nor am I ashamed of it. i would shout it from the rooftops. But after admitting comes that 12-step program right? That would be a waste of time because as soon as I hear 12 step it immediately makes me think of which 12 pairs of heels I'd be wearing for those steps ;).

Every girl has this "problem" but how is it a problem if everyone is so nonchalant about it? Either way I think it's just way for us females to be happy. "To each it's own" is the old adage and to that I say "here here".

A rant and rave but it's Just Jade
